PFOHC New Board Member Spotlight: Peter Friddle

The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County (PFOHC) welcomes a new addition to its board, Peter Friddle, Chief Operating Officer at Progressive Components (located in the Chicagoland area), who strongly believes in the positive impact that parks have on mental and physical health. When thinking about the holistic benefits of outdoor spaces, joining the PFOHC Board of Directors was an easy decision.

“Parks mean so much for a community. Sometimes, it feels like they’re taken for granted, but I know that there’s a lot of work behind the scenes to make sure that Hendricks County provides the best experience for its residents,” said Friddle. “I was looking for a way to give back to the community. I was very happy to learn that the board is a well-organized group of dedicated people working hard to benefit local parks. Once I knew that, it was easy to say yes.”

Peter joined his wife Amy in Hendricks County in 2017. They have been regular participants in the annual Summer Fun Run & Walk Series for years, and have enjoyed spending their free time in the parks. In addition, they frequently take time to explore new parks and trails in the area when they can.

Not only does Peter love the outdoors and the escape it provides him and his family, but he is an avid fan of orienteering. Peter has served on the board of the Chicago Area Orienteering Club for over 15 years. “Orienteering is an outdoor sport that combines navigation, physical fitness, and decision making to test one’s ability to read a map and find controls in the woods.”

Peter has found many different ways to activate his brain and body through spending time in our parks and trails and wants the next generation to continue to benefit from these opportunities. “For those that are able to donate, the funds will make a lasting impact for this and for future generations. There are fewer better ways to enhance your community, protect the environment, and improve everyone’s quality of life than donating to the PFOHC!”

Peter is a father of three. He and Amy’s sons are in college, and their daughter is a Junior at Avon High School. His work at Progressive Components allows him to travel around the country – and even the world! This has influenced his and Amy’s love for travel. “We both love to visit new places and experience new things. Fun fact –we’ve been to nearly 30 states in the last two years and well over 20 countries in our travels together.” Friddle shared.

As Peter begins his board service, we are excited about the passion he brings for the parks and all of the opportunities they provide our community. He will surely be a positive asset as we advance the mission of PFOHC and work to enhance the park experience for all of our Hendricks County neighbors and visitors.
