Miles with Meaning: The 2025 Summer Fun Run & Walk Series Moves Our Mission Forward
What a summer! The 2025 Summer Fun Run & Walk Series, presented by Hendricks Regional Health, brought together everything we love—beautiful parks, friendly faces, and a shared passion for keeping Hendricks County’s outdoor spaces thriving.
This year, over 750 people joined us at 12 different parks and trails from May through August. Together, we raised more than $60,000 to support the Parks Foundation of Hendricks County (PFOHC). These funds will go right back into our parks to make them even better.
So, what does that mean for our parks and trails?
It means more projects that bring people and nature together:
● Trail upgrades and improvements
● New amenities for all ages (and yes, our four-legged friends too!)
● Expanded nature programs to connect more people with the outdoors
When you walked, ran, biked, or strolled this summer, you weren’t just getting your steps in, you were helping move our mission forward.
All kinds of walkers and runners
One of the best parts of the series is the variety of people it brings together. We saw:
● Families with strollers
● Couples on date night
● Kids on bikes
● Dog walkers with very happy pups
● Running clubs and walking groups
● Friends catching up over a casual evening stroll
Some participants came for the workout, some for the scenery, and some just to discover a new favorite park.
Why we do it
The Summer Fun Run & Walk Series has been going strong for 17 years, and every year we’re reminded of why it matters. Parks aren’t just green spaces, they’re gathering spaces. They’re where we make memories, meet neighbors, and recharge from the hustle and bustle of life.
Thanks to your miles, we’re keeping those spaces vibrant, welcoming, and ready for the next generation of explorers.
