Parks Foundation Successes

Family with BirdhousesSince the inception of the Foundation in 2009, many projects and program have been funded through the support of the Foundation. This support is instrumental in keeping the Parks moving towards excellence. Check out our successes detailed below.

Sodalis Nature Park

Sodalis Nature Park is 210 acres of beautiful, mature woodlands and reforestation area, where visitors enjoy native Indiana wildlife, fishing in the 5.5 acre pond, hiking nature trails and relaxing in the picnic area. The Foundation has supported general improvements to the park as well as a Kiosk, Interpretive Signage, Benches and Recycling Cans.

Sodalis Park

McCloud Nature Park

McCloud Nature Park
At 232-acres, McCloud Nature Park is a premier nature park in central Indiana. Visitors can enjoy over six miles of hiking trails, access to Big Walnut Creek, year-round programs at the Nature Center and a wide variety of wildlife viewing opportunities. The Foundation has supported financially many of the Family Programs at McCloud as well as purchasing a hydration station and recycling cans.

Summer Fun Run Series

The Foundation is committed to increasing the recreation and fitness opportunities in our community. Each summer the Foundation and its partner Hendricks County Parks & Recreation provide a series of 10 free, fun runs each Wednesday in different parks throughout the summer in Hendricks County.

Hendricks Parks Summer Fun Run Series

W.S. Gibbs Property

The Foundation assisted in acquiring 140-acres in Washington Township that will become W.S. Gibbs Park. Groundbreaking on this park will take place in 2018. Phase 1 of the park includes a nature playground, pavilion, restrooms, hiking trails, and bike playground.
